young Horizons is back in gear for the new term with lots going on already. We had a great day last Thursday in Ballymun Trinity Comprehensive meeting the Transition Year classes. Thanks to Mr. O’Reilly for the time and the super welcome from the group in the library. We have a number of company visits and trips planned for the classes; with the first visit on the 19th November to the DIT Catering College. We have a number of work experience placements and CV/Interview workshops planned also.

Our yearly Careers Day is going to be even bigger this year with over 30 volunteers coming in to discuss their careers and paths into work. From Law, Tourism & IT, to Electricians, Fire Fighters & Army, to Cabin Crew, Engineers & Nurses we expect a great day in early January for 4th, 5th & 6th Years to learn and to ask questions. We are also making some great progress on our yH local cafe project. Stay tuned on Twitter @younghorizons or on our Facebook page for more info and let us know if you or your company wants to get involved.

Young Horizons
Reach further, dream bigger

by Steve Kelly on March 12th, 2014

A great night was had by all who attended the second annual yH table Quiz last Thursday night in Hedigan's pub (aka the Brian Boru) in Glasnevin. Between the main raffle for two return flights to Europe and other prizes, the quiz itself, and a smaller raffle for other super prizes we raised over €2,500. Some controversial commentary from our special MC quizmaster Sarah kept the atmosphere lively and competition was high all the way to the final round of the quiz.

Sarah graciously donated her raffle prize of two Bob Dylan tickets at the O2 to raise an additional €150 on the night. Some great ideas and contacts were shared also and all of us at yH really appreciate the support and encouragement shown on the night. It spurs us on to keep the message strong and to continue our plans to encourage our local youth to reach further and dream bigger!

Sincere thanks to everyone who attended and donated so generously.
